Wabtec Corporation’s (NYSE: WAB) Trip Optimizer system surpassed a milestone as railroads utilized the energy management system to operate their trains for more than 500 million auto miles. The system greatly reduces emissions and fuel costs for railroads worldwide.

Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB) announced today it has acquired RELCO Locomotives, a long-established player in the locomotive overhaul and maintenance industry. The acquisition expands Wabtec’s freight services capabilities and capacity to support growth in the remanufacturing and repair business.

Factory completes one year of manufacturing, on track to roll out 100th India locomotive. Two years ago, at the same IREE event, legacy GE Transportation announced the arrival of its first 4500 horsepower (HP) locomotive at the Mundra Port. To date, there are 135 such locomotives in revenue service with the Indian Railways, including 85 that were fully manufactured in India and is set to have 70 percent local content. Wabtec’s 6000 HP diesel-electric locomotive, the first in India, is currently undergoing test trials on Indian Railways track and is expected to enter revenue service soon.

Wabtec Corporation (NYSE: WAB) completed delivery of five diesel-electric PowerHaul® series locomotives to Körfez Ulaştırma A.Ş., the subsidiary of Turkey’s largest refinery Tüpraş operating in railway transportation.

GE Transportation (NYSE:GE) and Ukrainian Railways today celebrated a major accomplishment as the first Evolution Series locomotive entered service in Ukraine, part of an ongoing cooperative effort to comprehensively upgrade the country’s diesel-electric rail fleet. Moldovan Railways (CFM) has selected GE Transportation(NYSE:GE) to supply 12 Evolution Series locomotives, as well as parts, training and services. This is the first locomotive order in Moldova for GE Transportation and marks a significant step as the country seeks to upgrade its existing fleet to haul freight trains, primarily carrying grain and ore, as well as passenger trains.

GE Transportation (NYSE:GE) announced today at InnoTrans 2018 a new high-speed diesel engine program, which will serve the locomotive, marine and power generation segments. The engine platform will provide improved fuel efficiency and reliability, as well as lower lifecycle costs.

GE Transportation (NYSE:GE) announced today that CN (TSX: CNR) (NYSE: CNI) will acquire 60 additional locomotives, expanding the class I’s 200-unit order placed in December 2017.

GE Transportation (NYSE: GE) will supply Chilean private transport provider FCAB – Ferrocarril de Antofagasta with five diesel-electric locomotives in 2019. This is the first deal between the two partners and includes a parts, service and warranty agreement.

GE Transportation (NYSE:GE) and Ukrainian Railways celebrated today the first GE Evolution Series locomotive to be built as part of a framework agreement signed in early 2018. It is the first of 30 locomotives that are being built this year in support of the railroad’s effort to upgrade its fleet. Other items of exploration under the framework agreement include additional locomotives over 10 years, the modernization of locomotives in the railway’s legacy fleet, as well as long-term maintenance services.

Kansas City Southern (KCS) (NYSE: KSU) announced its U.S. and Mexico rail subsidiaries will acquire a combined total of 50 new locomotives from GE Transportation (NYSE: GE) to be delivered during 2019, as well as digital solutions to drive improved operational and fuel efficiency. With the North American rail market improving and freight volume up roughly 5% in 2017 and expected continued growth in 2018, the advanced locomotives will help KCS deliver on its expected future growth, while driving operational efficiencies across the KCS network.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko presided over the signing ceremony alongside Rafael Santana, President & CEO of GE Transportation.

GE today announced the delivery of two 4,500-horsepower diesel-electric Evolution series locomotives to Indian Railways in the presence of Shri Ashwani Lohani, Chairman of the Indian Railway Board and senior dignitaries from Indian Railways at an event in Lucknow.
